The Culinary Geography Bee debuted at the 2024 International Geography Championships in Vienna, and switches to a hybrid format for the 2026 International Geography Championships in Khao Lak. Like all hybrid competitions, this event will feature a 50 question, 20 minute exam for all age divisions, and a 40 (High School and Middle School), 35 (Intermediate & FFP Adults), and 30 (Elementary School & FFP Students) question buzzer-based final round. Economic Geography debuted as a demonstration exam at IGC 2022, became a medal exam at IGC 2024, and shifts to a hybrid competition for IGC 2026. Like all hybrid competitions, this event will feature a 50 question, 20 minute exam for all age divisions, and a 40 (High School and Middle School), 35 (Intermediate & FFP Adults), and 30 (Elementary School & FFP Students) question buzzer-based final round. Questions will focus on international business, natural resources, currencies, global trade, and other topics at the intersection of economics and geography.

The evolution, distribution, and interaction of world languages makes for a fun and exciting topic for a new competition at IGC 2026. Like all hybrid competitions, the Linguistic Geography Bee will feature a 50 question, 20 minute exam for all age divisions, and a 40 (High School and Middle School), 35 (Intermediate & FFP Adults), and 30 (Elementary School & FFP Students) question buzzer-based final round. Since the very first IAC world championship level competition, the 2015 International History Olympiad, musical bees have been a big hit with players. Hot on the heels of the Popular Music History Bee and the Classical Music History Bee from last summer’s History Olympiad in Paris comes the debut of the Musical Geography Bee for IGC 2026! This competition will feature approximately 50% audio questions in the final round; the emphasis will be on knowledge of numerous styles of music from around the world, rather than on knowledge of specific artists or specific musical compositions.
